About

Claire trained as a teacher at Keswick Hall Norwich and took art as her main subject. During this time she developed her ceramic skills and has continued to work in ceramics throughout her teaching career.

In Sept 2013 Claire retired from teaching to take up pottery as a full time career and decided that it was time to have her own workshop and develop more of her ideas.

Claire really enjoys making sculptural pieces such as figures, animals ecclesiastical pieces and garden sculptures. Her ceramic figures include dancers and tumbling characters, she likes her work to express movement and life showing the figures in mid action.

Within her pottery Claire has made a variety of cats, dogs and rabbits and enjoys working from the real animal as well as photographs to really get to know their character. The garden pieces that she is working on follow a theme of ‘Looking through’, where you can see different aspects of the garden as you look through the ceramic form.

Claire has completed a number of commissions, for example a full sized Nativity set for St. Michael and All Angels Church, Croft, which comprised of 11 characters, each one approximately 30cm tall. She also made a full sized ceramic salmon, see the picture on the 'commission' page!
